The Department of Thoracic Surgery, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) proudly participated in the 9th Sindh Chapter Grand Round of the Pakistan Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (PACVTS), held at SIUT, Karachi, on 5th October 2025.

The academic highlight of the event was an excellent oral presentation by Dr. Shifa Naz, Resident Thoracic Surgery, titled: “When Airway Meets Esophagus: Post-Intubation Tracheoesophageal Fistula After Mitral Valve Surgery.”

The presentation was highly appreciated for its clinical relevance, clarity, and depth of discussion on a complex and challenging postoperative complication. In recognition of this outstanding academic contribution, Dr. Shifa Naz was awarded the Best Oral Presentation at the grand round.

The Department congratulates Dr. Shifa Naz on this well-deserved achievement and takes pride in the continued academic excellence and representation of Team Thoracic Surgery JPMC at scientific forums.
