    Department of Thoracic Surgery JPMC at the 13th Biennial PACVTS Conference

    Venue: Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi

    The Department of Thoracic Surgery, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) participated in the 13th Biennial Conference of the Pakistan Association of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeons (PACVTS), held from 5th to 7th December 2025 at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi.

    This major scientific event brought together a distinguished international and national faculty comprising leading cardiac, thoracic, and pediatric cardiovascular surgeons, providing an academic platform for the discussion of contemporary advances in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

    The conference commenced with a hands-on workshop titled “From Fracture to Fixation: Master Rib Stabilization,” which was attended by the entire Thoracic Surgery team from JPMC, offering valuable exposure to modern chest wall stabilization techniques.

    Day 2 and Day 3 covered a broad range of sessions focusing on thoracic surgery, promoting academic exchange and professional development.
    A significant highlight for the department was the achievement of Dr. Rafia Zafar, who received the Best Presentation Award for her oral presentation entitled “ Spectrum of Cervical Injuries and Results of Surgical Management in Cut-Throat Cases.”

    The event concluded on a highly positive note for the Department of Thoracic Surgery, JPMC, underscoring its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and active participation in national scientific forums.
