Biography
After graduating from KEMC in 1991, Dr. Tanveer Ahmad joined JPMC, Karachi in 1993. There he obtained his Fellowship (FCPS) in Surgery and later following his interest in Thoracic Surgery joined the newly started Department of Thoracic Surgery with Professor Fahim-ul-Haq. His interest in treating Thoracic surgical disease got him interested in overseas training and in 1998 he joined The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC), Liverpool and trained with Professor Richard Page and Ajab Singh Soorae. He obtained his Fellowship (FRCS) from RCPS Glasgow and returned to JPMC where he trained under Prof. Waqar Ahmed and obtained his Fellowship (FCPS) in Thoracic Surgery.
The Department of Thoracic Surgery has grown under him to introduce more Thoracic Surgical procedures and now tracheal resections, Thymectomy and cervical rib resections are done routinely.
The department is growing daily with the introduction of newer modalities of treatment and the future plan is to introduce Robotic surgery in the department.
